The Habits of Mind (see below), founded by Art Costa and Bena Kallick in 2000, are a set of 16 behaviours, that when applied, can increase an individual's ability to achieve successful outcomes in any number of difficult situations. Dependent on the individual's inclination towards using them, the Habits can provide an internal compass to guide one's thoughts and actions. My question is, can students transfer and adapt Habits of Mind from a previous, unrelated situation, like their sporting experiences, to enhance their chances of academic success?
